Nina Rüetschi (CH) & Anthony Carusiello (US)
Nina and Anthony have been sharing their passion and expertise with students around the world for nearly a decade. They are dedicated to creating a learning environment that emphasizes strong technique and in-depth historical knowledge in various dance styles making them excellent mentors and teachers. Their classes are thoughtfully structured to accommodate dancers of all levels, from beginner to advanced. Join Nina and Anthony in their journey to elevate swing dance through quality education and a genuine love for the art form.
Nina, a swing dance professional with over 25 years of dance experience, began her dance journey with Jazz Dance at the age of 7. With a degree in Art Education, she blends her artistic knowledge with her extensive dance experience to teach and inspire her students. Nina is an accomplished competitive dancer, regularly making finals and placing at events across the continent.
Her commitment to the art of swing dance, combined with her educational background, makes her a dynamic and influential presence in the dance community.
Anthony hails from the US and has been teaching Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag, Charleston, Vernacular Jazz and other American jazz era dances for over 15 years. He holds several first place titles from prominent competitions
Maria Acuñas (ES) & Luis Arredondo (ES)
Luis is noted for his energetic dance style, risk-taking, never-ending smile, and detailed approach to the learning process. He relocated to Toronto in 2011, where he lived for ten years, traveling, teaching, and competing across North America. He is now back in Spain, working to build the Balboa scene in Mallorca.
Luis likes to keep his lessons moving by including lots of positive energy, a creative approach to partnership conversation, and a healthy dose of technique. He likes to make sure that each class gets everything it needs to succeed, and no two classes are the same!
In North America and Europe, he has won and placed in numerous national and international contests. He is excited to see you all.
Maria began dancing swing in 2014, and her love of the learning process has kept her going, adding more and more abilities and ideas to her distinctive style. She is a fan of high energy swing music, so Balboa was an obvious option for her next step. She started Jazz Bouncing, a dance studio in Mallorca, in 2015, where she is the principal instructor of Lindy Hop and Balboa, quickly becoming one of the island’s reference followers. She has been dancing and competing in national and international events since the beginning of her dance career, winning various competitions
Her dance is defined by her FUN and carefree style, with a strong emphasis on creativity, musicality, and partner communication.
Isabelle Jaschke (DE) & Eran Tobi (IL)
Since 2017, Eran and Isabelle are based in Dortmund. They are convinced that good body movement is vitally important for dancing with a partner. In their classes you will learn how to master complex movements more easily with the help of a lot of humour and examples from our everyday lives. You will also notice that behind Eran’s soft smile and Isabelle’s (at times) stern-looking face there is a devoted teacher couple that will not give up until you feel you really got it.
Yuliya Sofronova (UA) & Aaron Tokatch (US)
Yuliya and Aaron have been teaching and dancing balboa together since 2016. They began teaching because they wanted to bring the love for Balboa into their home scene in Albuquerque/New Mexico. Over the next 7 years they traveled to events throughout the country and brought back all they learned to their community. They fell in love with teaching and sharing their dance skills with others. They also love choreographing performances and performing them with a team.
Polett (HU) & Patrick (DE)
Patrick discovered Lindy Hop in 2012. The energy of the music, the freedom of its interpretation and the communication with his dance partners fascinated him immediately and ignited his passion for Swing dancing. From then on, he danced several times a week and began taking his first Balboa lessons a year later. He traveled to numerous Lindy Hop and Balboa events throughout Europe and has been teaching Lindy Hop since 2014 and Balboa for Swingin’ Pool Cologne e.V. since 2016. Later, he added solo jazz to his repertoire.
Polett chose the opposite path: she started Balboa in 2015 and discovered Lindy Hop later for herself. After a year of lessons in Stuttgart, she got hooked and started traveling to Balboa events around the world. Balboa offers her the ultimate way to connect with people from various backgrounds while developing and re-inventing her own dance style. She has moved to Cologne and started teaching Balboa with Patrick in 2018.
Together they founded a vital Balboa scene in Bonn 2023 and started teaching Slow Bal in Cologne quite a while ago. The focus in their classes is to convey the joy of dancing. They encourage a creative and respectful communication that allows both dance partners to contribute equally to the dance and develop their own style. Good lesson preparation is just as important to them, as being able to respond spontaneously and adapt the lesson material to the participants and the specific teaching situation.
